How To Install Android KitKat On Windows PC

Talking about android don’t only means smartphones or tablets. But most of us have the concept that the android only run’s in portable devices i.e. Smartphone and tablets. Android is an open Source platform which is very flexible in terms of the hardware that it can run on, and so there’s Android runs well on x86 computer as well.

Let’s first have a look over what Android for PC is about. Dubbed Android-x86, is an unofficial build(s) of Google’s operating system designed to work with Intel’s x86 hardware architecture. Available for different PCs. Android-x86 is getting further by adding support for other hardware manufacturers. Here is a complete guide on how to install Android 4.4 KitKat on your PC.

How to Install Android on PC

Please, note that you choose to follow these instructions to install android on Windows PC at your own risk. Trickyways.com will not be responsible for any potential damage to your hardware as a result of following this guide.
Requirements:
  • Android x86 ISO please Download the most appropriate.
  • USB Flash drive is recommended or you can use a CD/DVD.
  • A partition for Android on your PC hard disk and should have enough space for Android installation: 10GB for KitKat 4.4.2, 8GB for Jelly Bean 4.2 and 4.3, 2GB for Froyo – ICS.
  • UNetbootin to create bootable USB thumb drive you can download here.
Download the appropriate version of Android-x86 ISO compatible with your hardware, and UNetbootin. Plug a USB drive in the computer and run UNetbootin to create a bootable USB drive from ISO image that you downloaded earlier.
Click the “Diskimage” radio button, click the browse button and choose the ISO file from your PC, select the type USB Drive and partition letter. Click the OK button to create USB drive.

Now reboot your PC and choose USB drive as a bootable device. Some settings might need changing under your system’s BIOS to do that.
A menu will appear choose Install Android x86 to hard disk.
Select the partition to install Android x86 on. If using a new partition for that, it’s better to format it.
Few prompts will appear pertaining to installation of GRUB Bootloader. just allow them.
Another prompt will ask you to make system /r/w. Hit Yes on this, especially if you’d like to modify your Android x86 installation later.
You will get another prompt to install virtual SD card if you are installing ICS or earlier, 1800 MB of space must be used and it is maximum supported, Reboot your PC
Thats all,it will be a multiboot setup,you can choose either to boot to windows or android.

How to Force Android Phone to Use 3G Network Only

3G network is much faster than 2G and your phone might automatically switched to use 2G when phone guess 3G signals are weak. But, weak 3G signal may be better than strong 2G network. So if you want to stop Android phone from switching data from 3G to 2G then you can do that by accessing Android Device Testing menu.


Note: You have to be careful when changing any phone settings by following instructions below. Please don’t attempt until you know what you are going to do, we are not responsible for any damages.

Force Android Phone to Use 3G

  • Dial *#*#4636#*#* from Android phone dialer and you will see a Testing menu.
  • Tap the “Device Information” option to open the settings.
  • Here, you will notice device related information like, IMEI number, Network name, Signal strength, Data network type and lots of technical information.
  • Scroll down and find  “Set preferred network type:”, Tap the drop-down menu to see the list of network type.
  • Select “WCDMA only” option from the list to force phone to use 3G network only.
After changing this settings, now you are forcing phone to use only 3G data network. Remember when you don’t have 3G signals around this will not switch to 2G network automatically and you have to change the settings to “WCDMA preferred” option.
