Top 10 Facebook tips

Hide users, games, polls, etc.

It quickly gets annoying seeing some users posts, game invites, polls, etc. Hovering your mouse to the right of the post and clicking the Hide button as shown below can hide any post. Once this button is pressed you'll be prompted with the option to hide that user or in the case of a Facebook application the option to hide that application from ever showing up on your profile.

To unhide someone or unblock an application click the Edit Options link in the bottom right corner of the news feed as shown below.

Automatically organize Files on your Desktop using Fences Rules

Fences is a pretty old software which is the best way you can organize your desktop. It creates grids or area on your desktop where you can keep files and it stays within it. This makes sure your files are not scattered around. If you want to learn on how to use it, read our detailed post on Fences.
I had been using it for a while and in its recent update, Fences 2.0, it has introduced Rules. These rules allow you to automatically move documents into their fence. Saves time and make you even more productive. In the previous versions, you were supposed to manually move them into its specific sections.
Important : If you are using any previous version which was free and you never had a license, this upgrade will make the software as trail version. You will need to pay 10$ USD to use it beyond 30 days. I am still looking to find if there is a non commercial free version of this.

How to use Rules in Fences :

First, download the latest version of Fences  and install it. Once you install, you would see a default fence like Docs, Folders and Programs set  setup on your desktop.

Now move your mouse over the grid and you should see a list icon getting highlighted. Click on it and it will give you option to Manage all the Rules. Once you select it, you will get another window which lists down :

• Default Rules.
• Option to Edit Current Rules.
• Create New Rules.
• Time Based Rules
• File Size Based Rules

and so on.


There are few important things :

• Automation : You can choose to Keep the rules applied all the time then it keep moving between the respective grids automatically. If you prefer to organize later, Make sure to apply the rules manually using “Apply Rules Now”. You can uncheck rules if you wish to run them one by one.
• Editing Predefined Rules :  Some of the rules can be edited to a limit. As an example, a rule which moves all folders into a fence cannot be edited to include a file also.
• Conflicting Rules : Don’t make lot of rules that you end up conflicting them with each other. If you do a lot, you might end up in an infinite loop.

Troubleshooting in Windows 8 just got even cooler!

F8 or F2 is one most used keys when you want to troubleshoot Windows either in safe mode or command prompt or get into bios to change settings. Starting Windows 8, users will find it impossible to enable those options by pressing those hot keys at the boot time. Why ? Because Windows 8 boot is so damn fast that you really have part of a second to enable them, right there.
Good news is Windows 8 team know this “Problem” and hence have come up with a solution which will help you get into this advanced option without doing a lot of hard work.

Windows 8 Advance Settings :

The advance settings in Windows 8 is at the same place where you will find Windows Refresh and Reset. Once you launch it, it completely replaces whatever is on your existing screen and gives you access to the most commonly used options i.e

• Open Boot menu to boot into any other OS installed on the same PC. This means you will be able to boot into another OS right from Windows 8. I remember this was one of the most demanded feature we had a lot of hacks for this.
• Use a device, which is mostly, used for using recovery devices in the form of USB or DVD or even network cards.

In the same menu you have option to even more advance settings using the Troublshoot menu. This when launched gives you quick access to

• System Restore
• System Image Recovery
• Automatic Repairing : This will be used when windows fails to load.
• Command Prompt
• UEFI Firmware Settings or the Advance BIOS
• Windows Startup Settings.

How will I be able to troubleshoot if Windows 8 gets hanged when booting or before even I can Login ?

Thats a pretty good question. Windows 8 is designed such that in case of issues like these, this advance settings or the boot menu option will automatically showup, giving you clear option to recover your Windows 8 PC using Options like Refresh, Reset, Disk Image etc.
One thing, which is good, about this troubleshooting option is that it is smart enough to find a solution for the problem and will guide you to fix it, and  if it can fixed. However if nothing works, it will launch the repair options to nuke the problem.
If you an advance users, you can choose the Windows Startup Settings, which will have options like disabling the driver signatures, automatic restart on system failure, debugging mode, boot logging, safe mode and disable early launch anti malware protection.

How this will work on Old Hardware :

This will same for all the devices except that getting into BIOS, for older devices, will be using the interrupt keys i.e. F2 or F12. Now if you are wondering if you will have time, then the answer is Yes, because the old hardware will not boot in 2 seconds and hence you will have enough time to press and hold the keys to interrupt and get the boot menu.
The Hot Key to boot into this option :
If you are not logged into Windows 8 yet, but are on the login screen, you can pres shift and restart together to boot into this menu or you can lunch this from command prompt using Shutdown.exe /r /o

HOW TO BLOCK UNWANTED CALLS OR A PHONE NUMBER

Blocking, Ignoring and do no want to attend calls are few things which we often do with our Mobile even though the first one is pretty touch because that defies  the idea of having a phone itself but then there are some calls which keep on irritating which could be from the same number.
Though you might argue that you can just hit the red button but then you need to attend and you become answerable to the person who called you if he or she is a known person.

So today we will talk about list of apps, online services, operator provided solution which will help you block calls from specific numbers or even area. Now when I say blocking, it does not mean that nobody will be able to dial your number and hit the green button but they might get a tone which will keep telling them that the phone is out of reach or busy or will just not reach you in some cases.
I have talked specifically on Call Blocking options for US and India, so if you have are from a different country let us know and I will look into it.

If you are going to need an app, I will always suggest you to get a paid app for these kind of issues. They are worth paying as they help you get more features and I think will be ready for paying  5 to 10 $ for this.
Android App : Mr Number is the best fit we found based on it’s popularity and comments.

• Apart from letting you block phone numbers it can also catch calls from telemarketers on the first hand.
• For US, there is a reverse lookup facility available ( Paid ) which can find who called you from the unknow numbers.
• For friends whom you want to ignore for a while, it provides a status concept which lets you either send that call to voice mail or send a text message about what you are doing without you even knowing that a call came.

BlackBerry App : Call Blocker Professional. Though Blackberry comes with option to Block SMS and emails from specific contacts but Call block is missing. This app is similar to android app above but it

• Add numbers in bulk
• Block calls from entire area.
• Block Calls even on call waiting.
• Works even if you have locked your mobile.
• Allows you to save settings in case you need to reinstall the app again.

Symbian : Advance Call Manager The best app for Symbian phones, though many Nokai phones come with an inbuilt option to block calls but this gives gives a lot more.

• Schedule to change its behavior.

iPhone :
If you are one of the persons who Jailbreak your iPhone (s), iBlackList is the best option for you.

Google Voice

This is the best solution if your country does have Google Voice. You dont need to a buy an app nor you need to call your operator for making a request.
Google Voice : It gives you three options Send to Voicemail, Set the number as Spam or completely block which makes the caller hear “We are Sorry. You have reached a number which has been disconnected or no longer exists“.  The best part is that you have a user interface where you can see the list of calls which was made to you, so if you are busy at the moment you can login to your account later and set it to spam or block it off. On similar lines there is another service which I picked up from Microsoft Answers, is YouMail. Though this is a paid service but their free option is worth trying. Once you connect your number with them, in free version, they allow you to play a greeting before disconnecting which can be enough to annoy them.

US :

• AT&T Smart Control : You will need to activate this service on your number at the cost of 4.99$. This service then lets you block 30 numbers and even the 411 Directry Assistance numbers. Basically this service was introduced to control on calls made by kids. via

• Sprint has similar Parental Control Service which allows to Restrict incoming/outgoing voice calls to pre-approved list on selected devices.

India

• Airtel : Comes with Airtel Call Manager It lets you manage your block list online. There is an integrated search which helps you find the blocked number quickly when you wist to unblock.
• Vodafone :  Call Filter feature of Vodafone allows you to block any number by making a call.  Using the Voice Interactive Menu, you can create a White List and Black List to add any count of number.

Do Not Call Registry

This is the last option which doesn’t work that good, at least not in India. Every country have a policy for telemarketers using which they are not allowed to call a person if his or her phone number is listed in a Do Not Call or Do not Disturb registry.  The best way is to call in your operator and ask him how to register your number for that. However this might take some time.

HOW TO CHANGE WINDOWS7 BACKGROUND

Windows 8 Start screen allows you to have a different background but its limited to what Microsoft offers and even though you can change Lock Screen Picture, there is no way to pick a custom background picture for Start Screen. I am guessing this has been limited, so you get less distracted from the Tiles.

How to add a custom background :

Said that, its pretty obvious you will need some kind of hack to use your own image and luckily, Windows 8 Modern UI Start Screen Changer, developed by vhanla,  allows you to do that. However, before you go ahead and start using it, you are warned to make a restore point and backup files which are important to you. In case something goes wrong, you will end up resetting your computer.
What does it Offer :

• Custom Background Image for Start Screen
• More Coloured Images for Start Screen apart from default images.
• This will work only in Windows 8 Pro as Windows RT users cannot run executable.

How to use it
First download the Windows 8 Start UI Changer from here. Unzip and you will find a file ending with extension as ex_. You will need to rename it to .exe and run it.  There are two files here, one is for 32Bit of Windows and other for 64 Bit of Windows.

Done that, Run the appropriate program and  In case Windows Gives you warning when you run it, use run it anyway option to override it. When the program launches you will see a similar interface as below. The good part of this program is that it offers you Backup and Restore your current settings, apart from changing screen background.


St1ep 1: Click on Make a Backup. Wait till its done and says you have a backup.
Step 2 : Click on Load Picture and select a picture you want to use as background. Once it loads, you will get a cropper which allows you to select part of the picture which will not be visible because Tiles will be in between. Click on Crop and you will get see a couple of previews below it.

Step 3 : Next select any of the previews offer and click on Preview button to get a full screen view of how it looks like. Once you are satisfied, click on patch and you are done.
Step 4 : In case this is not what you wanted, use another picture or restore to get back to the original state.
To get best out of it, make sure to choose High Resolution image as images will be stretched if they are not of the right size. In case you are wondering how this hack works, then it must be patch the file which is responsible for holding start screen background picture file in Windows.
Apart from loading picture, the tool also gives you direct option to what Windows 8 Start Screen Changer has to offer i.e. Selecting Colour Images, which comes preloaded, and colour options. Have Fun!

Disable Your Don't Send Error Report During Not Responding Program

Sometimes we Choose a non Responding programs which lead to hangup your computer.

Usually when we run any program which become non responding and then we close all the not responding  programs which makes the Don't send Error report window Like this

If  This message disturbs you and if you want to disable it  follow these simple steps

• Go to My Computer >> Then Right Click >> Properties >> Advanced

• After Then Click on Error Reporting Button In Advanced Tab. As Shown in Above Pic.

• Then Click on Disable the error reporting  as shown below.

After that Don't send error box will not appear in future when you close the not responding programs and activities.

Now Save this by locker.bat  and  then double click on locker .bat

Your Folder Lock Password is  safetricks

Important Tips:-
First time start, it will create folder with Locker automatically for u.
After creation of the Locker folder, place the contents u want to lock inside the Locker Folder and run locker.bat again. and put Y and enter to Lock.

Speedup Computer by Cleaning or Free the RAM usage

RAM – Random Access Memory is one of the main component of computer that is responsible for the processing speed of Run and open the file of  operating system. Since all the Operating systems support Multiprocessing, hence require a good RAM speed. So, we can remove or freeup the RAM with unused junk data to Speedup the System or processing speed.

We can clean the RAM just by using a Notepad application. This do not require any software. Just Follow these simple steps.


Open Notepad and Type

FreeMem=Space(64000000)
Now save it as CleanRAM.vbs on desktop

Run the file and your RAM may be free.
Of course you can edit the code in the file for a greater “cleaning-progress”.

For example:

Today i am going to  provide you the   Simplest Way to Change the ICON Of your USB Pen Drive. so let's start the process.

First of  All you will Need  some Icons  to change your USB Icon  .Please note that  the  icon files  are those files which has   .ico  extension.

Now Open Notepad and write the following line of code

[Autorun]
icon=Youricon.ico

Change Youricon  with  the name of your Icon.

Now save This file  in Your  USB Pen drive  with   name   autorun.inf

Don't  forget to  change  "All Files "  in  save as .. shown in given below

You are done now . So hide both  autorun.inf and  icon file to protect it from deleting .
Remove your USB Pen drive and then  Insert Again to see the changed ICON of your USB .

If it still fails then please Restart your computer to see the effect. You can also change your  Drive's like- C,D,E,F etc  Icon  using this

But If You want Hide large account of data or want to hide full drive from other then follow these steps carefully

Step To Hide Drive

•  Go To Start >> Then Run >> Then Type Diskpart

• New Window will open Then Type list volume press enter

• Now your all drive will appear, now if you want to hide Drive D

• Then Type select volume 2 and press enter.

• Then Type remove letter D and press enter again.

• Now Go to your my computer then you will find that your D drive is hidden.

Step To Unhidden your Drive

• Go To Start >> Then Run >> Then Type Diskpart

• Then Type list volume press enter

• Now your all drive will appear, now if you want to unhidden Drive D

• Then Type select volume 2 and press enter.

• Then Type assign letter D and press enter again.

• Now Go to your my computer then you will find that your D drive is unhidden.

Then your Hidden drive will start appearing. Lets take one look on all steps in this figure

Go to the 'Services' tab, find the 'Background Intelligent Transfer' service.
